Where else can you relive the glory days of the Stockyards? Where else can you just wander in and discover the long-time tradition of Cinco de Mayo in South O? And don't miss the opportunity to touch base with Rosenblatt Stadium and baseball legends throughout Omaha's past!
The South Omaha Museum is working to preserve and celebrate that which makes South O so unique to this area. It seeks to share the vitality of the people who define the character of this small part of town, once home of the world's largest stockyards full of migrants of all stripes, even to this day. Support the work of the South O Museum by Donating at Omaha Gives! Thank you!
We had a great GRAND OPENING RECEPTION! MARCH 15, 5-8PM
Thank YOU for coming out to start the Museum off with a BANG!
The newly established South Omaha Museum is the only institution dedicated to the unique history and cultural menagerie of the Magic City. Encounter the fascinating story of this powerhouse of a town, flooded by waves of hard working immigrants who flowed into a towering meat-packing industry and carved out a life for themselves and their families.
A Rich Tapestry of Immigrants
From all over they flooded into South Omaha, making it the fastest-growing city in America, hence, "The Magic City". They sought opportunity after leaving Poland, Ireland, Mexico, Lithuania, Bohemia... They melded into a new culture of shared endurance, pride and good humor.

Experience South O on our Tours
The Museum's Magic City Bus Tours will take you through neighborhoods once defined by their original ethnic communities but now defined by new cultural influxes on the infinite loop of immigration that is South O. Guided by SOB ("South Omaha Boy") and Museum curator, Gary Kastrick, the tours are an enjoyable ride through this fascinating area, punctuated by beautiful ethnic murals.

The Stockyards & Packing Houses are the foundation of South O. It is only a matter of course that the Museum's first exhibit be about the world's largest stockyards, it's history and legacy.
